This Privacy Policy explains how Dreft, published by Ayoub El Assali ("we," "us," or "our"), handles your information. Dreft is built local-first, and the short version is simple: your data stays on your device, and we don't collect it.
1. The short version
- Dreft has no accounts and no sign-in.
- Your notes, canvases, images, bookmarks, and settings are stored only on your device, in folders you choose.
- We operate no servers for Dreft and cannot see, access, or recover your content.
- Dreft contains no analytics, no tracking, and no ads, and we do not sell data — we have none to sell.
- Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.
2. Information stored on your device
Dreft stores the following locally on your Mac or iPad only:
- Vault content — your notes (.md), canvases (.canvas), and images, saved in vault folders you select
- App preferences — theme, workspace layout, open tabs, bookmarks, and onboarding choices (such as the name or world name you enter)
- Folder access bookmarks — on iPad, Dreft uses Apple's security-scoped bookmarks so it can reopen the vault folder you picked in the Files app
This information never leaves your device through Dreft. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party by the app.
Anything you type during onboarding (for example, your name or your world's name) is used only to personalize the app on your device and is stored in local app preferences.
3. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, receive, or process:
